Rainbow six vegas running slow

Is there any way to change more graphics details other than resolution, hdr and that one other option?

Even in 1024x768 i get drops at the start to 14fps :(

My system is-
Opteron [email protected]
2gb gskill hz
X1800xt@700core 800mem
DFI ultra-d
 
not that im aware of, you could probably mess with some .ini files but this game requires a beast of a machine to run
try googling some r6v forums for more info
 
R6 Vegas is one of the worst coded games known to man, its basically a direct port from the 360 so its pretty much totally unoptimised for the PC.

Best thing you can do is drop shadows to medium/low, that'll gain you a big jump in FPS.

Other than that, you just have to live with it.

on my e6600/xtx 1950 it runs like a dog. why were they so lazy and just ported the xb360 version?!!
 
yeah gave it a go last night, first level start off ok, got to the bit where you get to shoot some guys n 21fps set in :mad: thats on rig in sig.
 
good im glad it runs like poo on everyone elses machines. :p

Looks like a console sort of game, all washed out and blurry, even without motion blur on!
 
i must admit i was happy enough with performance when i started to play the other day. guess i'm not much of a frame rate whore. :p

i just found it a bit tedious really, i should try and like it but i haven't touched it since i first installed it (still on the first level - the checkpoints are too far apart. i got killed and got sent way back. i guess that is what ****** me off). :o
 
I get around 20fps most of the time. Odd thing is, in battle that won't change. Certain empty corridors drop it to about 8 however. Genius.

I'm happy with the save system. It just means you need to take more care.

Got a AMD 3800 Venice core @ stock
HIS X1900XT @ stock
2Gig 400Mhz Ram


Runs fine with most of eye candy on - no noticable slow down at 1050 x 1680. Can't understand why most people here are having problems.

Ace game - love it. Best shooter since GRAW.

it runs ok i suppose for the type of game on my machine. I just prefer around 40fps in my games.

User fraps to check what sort of frames your getting
 
just checked and i'm getting 20-25 fps. can't say i'm bothered. still plays ok for me. still on first level though. knowing my luck it will get worse.... :D
 
Some of these tweaks on the official site may help..though I find they do little for me. Turing off hardware skinning and motion blur, gave me the biggest gain, with no real visual loss.

Runs fine most of the time, but there are some areas that bog down on the best of machines and seems to be programming/conversion issues.

You say most of the eye candy.
It should run perfectly fine with ALL the eye candy on.
Thats the reason why your not getting any slow down you've turned the detail down!!
I run at full detail @ 1280x960 & it WILL lag if i look at certain objects or WALLS!! :confused:
It will do that @ 1024X768 too, this game should run perfectly fine @ 1600x1200 but it won't because its a straight port with the ranking taken out.
They even left 360 features in the game.
It is a shame because it is a great shooter.

works ok ish in 1024x768 with shadows on low and motion blur off (i think it looks crappy and distracting anyway) there seems to be some sort of motion blur on already aswell.

Very good game for a rainbow six. Loads of action, nice gun sounds etc. Shame it doesnt run a bit better but im up to about the 2nd or 3rd checkpoint on the roof where you first meet the squad and i think its great.

what detail is there to turn down? all i can find is res, hdr, shader skins, shadows and motion blur. Cant you turn down model details, textures etc??

Nope..and this is the biggest sign of a rushed port. There is very little scaling for older PC's. A shame as this is a great game and a bit more time spent on the PC version should have happened.

Well any combination of them turned off will help you get a higher fps than having them all on.
Which is besides the point of this game running smoothly, which it does not.

i turned off hdr and shader skins and it didnt change the fps so i just put it back on. Its playable in 1024x768 with hdr and skins on and motion blur off (so far)
 
just finished this the other day and all through the game run kinda wierd nice and fast one moment then silly slow down for some reason the next,and with shadows truned right down.
was running it on gts so very disapointed, like some one said typical console port.
iv.e seen it run on 360 and makes me feel very cheated. :(

took off and wont be playing again,ubisoft better pull there finger out or no more money from me,splintercell wont even run on me box with out silly work arounds for god sake.
 
this is one of the reasons why i am waiting on ati's latest gfx cards if all we are getting is rushed 360 ports stands to reason they will run better on r600 as this is meant to be very similar to the 360's gpu with unified shaders but more powerfull so i heard any way

i know 8800 series has unified shaders but i think ati must have went about it differently judging how the 8800 performs in 360 ports
