Rainbow six vegas running slow

Yep, this game's frame rate is patchy and unpredictable. This sort of release makes me wonder about uprading my rig - what's the point in the latest and greatest gear if the software is poorly coded and doesn't make use of it?

I guess we just have to take the bad code as it is and throw more hardware at it to get it running... ;)

I find the game does not run all that great on my rig  though I do love the game so I guess its not all bad :D

my mate has a x1600xt and would go down to like 7 fps sometimes and average 10, after changing all the in game settings to lows ect it still ran poorly like 12fps (average).

Using this site though I got his frames to average 40+ :) "he's happy.. very happy"

well im getting 30fps minimum with everything on or up full apart from motion blur as im still having trouble with my eye and it makes me sick :) and a res of 1280x960.

sys spec:

AMD 4400+ X2
2GB RAM
7800GTX

patched, latest drivers although it can stutter when first loaded up but then it smothes out fine.

New 1.4 patch is out for R6V, lets hope it "fixes" something this time.
Nearly had more patches than bf2 already.

>>LiNk<< if you don't like "Auto Update" (although its where the auto update gets it from ;) )

Well it looks like they ****** the patch up, they used old pb files in the patch so it won't work if you have played the game in the last week, so if you are having problems patching R6V use >>ThIs<< file first & then patch the game.
Ubi the new EA.

Is there any way to change more graphics details other than resolution, hdr and that one other option?

Even in 1024x768 i get drops at the start to 14fps :(

My system is-
Opteron [email protected]
2gb gskill hz
X1800xt@700core 800mem
DFI ultra-d

R6V runs like a dog.

Our performance tests show that in order to play this game smoothly with the resolution and quality settings at their highest, you will need at least an NVIDIA 8800 GTS (or possibly an overclocked X1950 XTX). The X1950 XTX and 7900 GTX at reference speeds can run the game at these settings without too much trouble, but they still see some choppiness when in a large firefight with a lot of stuff going on. Fortunately, the game still looks and plays well with the resolution and quality settings turned down, so don't despair if you aren't an owner of an 8800 yet and want to get a hold of this game. We still don't recommend playing Rainbow Six: Vegas on a low end card like the 7300 GT, because even at the lowest resolution and settings you will still probably run into choppy gameplay at certain points in the game, and the action can be fast-paced enough that this is a real problem. At this point in time, to really enjoy this game at a decent resolution you will probably want to go with at least a 7600 GT from NVIDIA or better yet an X1650 XT from ATI if you can get your hands on one. GeForce 7900 GS and Radeon X1900 GT are also good options.
