But I still got out today despite the weather. Well I couldn't stay in with my 300mm f2.8 sitting next to me could I? So I went to Low Barns nature reserve. The weather really didn't do me any favours and I didn't see much in terms of interesting birds (Well, i did see a Kingfisher, but it was way way too far away to even bother trying to get it.) But I still managed to get some interesting shots. All images have been slightly cropped for compositional purposes, but not heavily at all. I also received my teleconverters (1.4x and 2x Kenko Pro 300 DG) but unfortunately they throw up errors with all my Sigma lenses. Seems there is a compatibility issue with them that isn't mentioned anywhere.

favourite is number 2

find the foreground foliage (hehe, alliteration) too distracting on t'others :(

Looks like a lovely sharp lens Khan!

Favourite is the 2nd - is really peaceful with the water dropping from the swans beak!

Like the 3rd as well! :)

Yeah, its a slight shame about the amount of foreground plants, especially on number 3, but I doubt he would have let me trim it all back before taking his portrait. Taking shots of swans is easy, but taking these far wilder creatures requires a lot more luck.

The last one is brilliant, a seriously wild feel to it :) Nice stuff!

Thanks. Really was a lovely suprise to have this one run within 10feet of the hide I was sitting in. He did run a bit too fast for me though. He could have at least stopped and drank out of the lake so that I could take pictures. :D

Cheers. Yup, the lens seems very sharp. The weather certainly wasn't in my favour but the autofocus was blisteringly fast and locked on with satisfying certainty. I love the sound of when you put the camera in AF-C mode and listen to the lens 'chattering' as it constantly adjusts the focus. :)

Well #3 is my favourite and well done for not giving into the weather !

I had really hoped for a nice weekend to try out my new lenses but instead we have strong winds and heavy rain here, really getting annoyed now.

No1. doesn't do anything for me I'm afraid.

No2. Love this! the DoF is great and the water dripping from the bill is an added bonus. Well done.

No3. Even though the plants are blocking, I feel this gives a more natural feel that the shot was actually captured in a natural enviroment. Good job.

Thanks guys. Im hoping to spend an hour or two at the nature reserve tonight as well, so hopefully i'll be just as lucky. Im determined to get the Kingfisher! :)
