RainX: Should be illegal NOT to!

I don't need A/C because I have windows
I don't need PAS because I have muscles in my arms
etc
etc

i dont need a car because i have legs?

hehe...... anyway, i heard RainX causes bad smears, and im not really having that much trouble with my windscreen anyway, i use turtle wax (i think) window polish, then autoglym fast glass, and the rain just beeds off anyway.

RainX is an excellent product. Combine it with PIAA wipers and it's like magic. It's even better for those of us without a rear wiper. Lasts for months, and considering our weather, something worth considering, it's not that expensive and if you want to put in a bit of time, 100% worth it.

But.

It's all about the application and prep. The times I have been lazy and skimped on getting the glass clean, sure enough, streaking on the windshield and far less effective on the mirrors and side / back glass. The glass has to be factory-clean for it to work it's wonders.

I have never really thought of using anything like RainX, but I've heard mixed reports, as is what's happening in this thread hehe

I find my wipers are more than adequate at any speed, anyway.

And rg-Tom, how on earth do you manage to do 85 in torrential rain?

.. I ask because I find most people dither around in all three lanes doing around 60 in heavy rain, it's the most infuriating thing and you can't get past

;)

I have been using for a few years now and have used it on a variety of cars and i found it to be fantastic!!! I would now not go with out it, it is a bit of a nighmare to aply as you have to polish it off quite well or you are left with swirl marks on the screen but other than that i would reccoment it to everyone iwth a car (apparently my next door neighbour has used it on the visor of his bike helmet and he said that it was very useful for him as a bike rider) :D

I applied some of this today, used the 2in1 glass cleaner+repellent spray and on the drive home from work did not need to touch the wipers in the rain! the water just rolled upwards even cruising at 65mph.

It was only when going below this speed that wipers were needed though so wipers are always needed still :)

Not bad I'd say for a window cleaner + repellent in one.

Used both this and AG glass polish. The AG glass polish works so so much better.

I managed to go about 30miles on the M9 in terrible rain without using the wiper blades.

For windscreens at least I fail to see why not needing to use your wipers is some sort of advantage?

Because you see more than if you didn't have it and did use wipers. It's also a lot of use on headlights.

If you still don't get it, blow £6 on a bottle and try it. If you don't like it most strong glass cleaners will remove it.

Reckon i will pick up a bottle of this stuff today. As some have said us saloon owners don't have rear wipers so i will give it a go on the rear screen. My main problem is when the car is standing still. Say i just come out of work and it's been chucking it down with rain. When i come out to collect my car and drive home will my rear sceen be clear?

It does odd things on stationary cars, once you move it will clear.

Never do the rear screen on a hatch tho ppl, it becomes impossible to use the screen wash.
