Rally fatality

Was up at Laggan Wolftrax MTB trails on Saturday. On the way up on Friday we spotted loads of rally cars either driving on the road up and around that area or being trailered there. On the way back home from Laggan/Aviemore in late afternoon the next day we spotted loads of "Police Slow" signs in the area the incident happened.

Didn't hear about the fatality until we got home and I watched the news. :(

RIP Jimmy.

I do not mean to be disrespectful to the poor guy who passed away, but at 56yrs old your reaction time is not what it use to be. 'Born Again Bikers anyone?' Racing a car at high speed at that age is an accident waiting to happen..

Sorry but its true!

Are you serious?

No really you must be joking right?

Oldest CART winner - Mario Andretti at Phoenix Speedway 1993 - 53yrs old
Daytona 24hrs class winner - Paul Newman 1995 - 70yrs old (He was still doing the race in 2005 at 80!)

That's just 2 examples - both in cars racing at over 200mph.
A fit and healthy 56yr old racing a rally car is most certainly not "an accident waiting to happen". Despite your insistance to the contrary it is actually very disrespectful of you to suggest otherwise. RIP Jimmy.

And there you have it.. Cart and Daytona.. Thats a whole different ballpark.. Cart and Daytona = guffers day out. Considering neither offer a single corner to negiotiate, I'm not suprised old guffers are still able to compete in either series.

Rally / MotoGP / F1 and well just about 98% of sports out there is for more challenging than a guffers day out Daytona, and at 56yrs you are simply too old and too slow to be able to not be a danger to yourself.
