Hi.
I want to get some new ram for my Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R. I have 4gb of ocuk pc8500 value ram but the damn stuff just won’t run stable and wont operate within specified voltages so I’m going to send it back.

I want to get 4GB (2X dual channel kits) that have been tested with this specific MB. I checked the recommended ram list form gigabyte here

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/FileList/MemorySupport/motherboard_memory_ga-p35-ds3r_2.0.pdf

I’m thinking of going for the “OCZ OCZ2N1066SR2GK” and I just want to know a few things before I go ahead and buy it.

If you check the PDF there is a heading called “SS/DS” what does this mean.

And under the “Dual channel Load (Pcs)” some say 2 and others 4. Does this mean that the RAM will only run with one dual channel kit (2 GB) and not with 2 dual channel kits (4 GB).

As you can probably tell from my post I’m a little confused,

Single Sided and Double Sided. Ie - It has chips on just one side of the dimm or on both sides of the dimm.

I've no idea about the Dual-channel load thingy. The board will however run in dual-channel providing the amount of memory in channel A is the same as the amount in channel B. So both 2gb and 4gb will run in dual-channel.

thankyou for the info. and just one more thing. When i install a dual channel kit do i have to make sure that i install the kit in the same colour slots. e.g.
one matched pair in the purple slots and the send matched pair in the green.

Yip one pair in the yellow slots and the other pair in the red slots if installing 4 sticks.
