hey all am i right in saying that

processors are the items that do the computing so all the work and the ram is something that stores the data for the processor to process?

if not can some one correct me?

Depends how memory intensive those 1000 things are, Generally speaking 16GB of ram is more than enough for anybody. Unless your heavy into 3d work or editing.

What 1000 things do you want your PC doing at once?

No you need both. Whenever you run an application it maps itself into memory and runs from there, so the more memory the larger/more application(s) you can run. The CPU simply determines the number of calcuations it can perform in a given time, i.e. the faster/more cores it has the more processing it can perform per cycle.
