hi changed my ram from 2gig of patriot 6400 800mhz to 4gig of 8500 1066mhz ballistix from cruicial. my vista rating went down from 5.5 to 5.3.i changed settings to 5.5.5.15 1066mhz and 2.0volt did manually. few times it was bleeping but then was ok got upto 5.4 rating.but now getting it bleeping few times when boot up giving C1 code on Mboard evga Nforce 680i SLI. tried taking out resitting ram &tried only 2 then 4 sticks and did bios mem check said 2 ok then 4 when replaced.lists 4gig on welcome page (vista).had on today no problem switched back on now bleeping C1. took out power lead depowered with switch like when you install ram to use up residule current.booted up but says in safe mode &says changed to 800Mhz and altered pin settings. it is the single sided ram.says please reset cpu speed memory frequency in bios etc. no problem before with old ram apart from shop put there copy of vista onit instead of mine.its an aleinware core 2 duo 2.67ghz E6700 1066mhz.

when i booted up today it went into safe mode.now ive reset to 5.5.5.15.checked clock reset mem to 1066 and changed volts to 2.2 see if ok with that.it lists all in bios when booting up and 4gig so hopefully it will be happy?famous last words!eeek.touch wood bashing my self over head with tree he say's!
one other thought would i have been better getting 2sticks of 2gig or 4 sticks of igig as ive got?
also would this benefit from changing any of those settings to any other configuration? as ive come from motor mechanics background and manual lists this setting/volts/torque etc and had to tweak/alter to another to get tit to work better!

just switched back on gone into safe mode says please reset cpu speed or memory frequency in bios.its set it to 800 5.4.4.17.? so ive taken it out. put the patriot ram back in. one thing i did notice that the patriot is much better quality/fit in slots as snaps in with a nice click.

yes it does seam that way esp single sided stuff reading in other forums.they don't do the dual sided stuff now or with D9 so it seams?.

just spoke to crucial they say my M'board won't run @1066mhz?. its a EVGA nFORCE 680i sli 122-ck-nf68. and to set at 800mhz 2.0v .4.4.4.12.?. anyone help or know?

cheers matey. i do have manual here also. so whats the difference between dual channel and sli-ready memory? anyway thanks for reply Happy.

Marketing gimmick really, it's a bit like a performance profile but only for "SLI Memory" on Nvidia Chipsets... I 'may' be wrong, but I would assume your ram should work as it runs under the limit for DDR2 memory frequency.

Also interesting to note, I previously had 4x1GB PC2-8500 Tracers (until they all died within a week ) When I had them in a 2x1Gb combo I scored 5.9 and when in a 4x1GB combo I got 5.6. No amount of tweaking timing/speeds/ram&chipset voltages would change it. That was in Vista 64.

hi yes was beginning to wonder? ie like Hd ready/digital/cd ready and many more BS statements you find.
I was wondering if i should have gone for 2x2gig instead of 4x1?

Also if M'board won't run at 1066mhz return 8500/1066mhz ram instead of running it @800mhz or will that run to same standard as 6400/800Mhz and use @.4.4.4.12.???
