Ram choice for 5900x

Keep an eye on WHICH GSkill Trident Z you're looking at.... some are CAS18,17,16.... but there's a 3600Mhz CAS14 bundle too!

This is the part you're after.... now good luck finding it for under £300 for 2x16Gb!

yeah seen those £331 and did think about those even at the crazy price. But to be honest the whole build has not been cheap with all the water cooling parts and then the dark hero mobo and 5900x and also looking at the seasonic 1000w titanium psu at £300. still got to get Gpu as well

In theory, could that GSkill trident 3600 C14 run @ 3800 C12? Though might be better trying for 4000 C14

Pretty sure without Maxmem mode enough, you won't be hitting 3800CL12, that will also take quiet a voltage bump.

To give you a idea, when I run 4000CL12 on my MB's it using anything from 1.80v to 2.05v depending on kit / CPU / board and you have to run a offset going over 2v on B-Die.

Anything up to 1.6v on Samsung B-Die is ok for 24/7 but you run into the issue of cooling them, as they love throwing errors when the IC's hit 50c. So ideally if you can keep them under 1.45 / 1.5 (at a push with airflow) you should be fine.

The best value kit for Price vs Performance from G.Skill at the moment is the 4000 16-16-16-36 1.45 kit, as you'll easily get 3800CL14 with some fairly aggressive sub timings from them.

Not sure if that was a typo, but I paid £231 ;) (G.SKILL RAM Gskill D4 3600 32GB C14 TZNA K2)
