I'm finally getting around to upgrading my computer as I was originally meant to do it a while back.

My current motherboard is a Gigabyte X58A-UD3R - can anyone please tell me if this memory is compatible;

Anyway, I shall be upgrading the RAM and also the SSD to either the 128GB or 256GB Samsung Pro unless people suggest otherwise?

Will this be for gaming, the Low Profile RAM you spec'd is quite expensive and you don't need 16GB.

No, primarily Photoshop work, got 6GB currently and it can get sluggish when I have large PSDs open.
 
The Samsung EVO is probably as good as the PRO, is £30 cheaper but out of stock at the moment. I have the basic 840 256GB drive and have been really pleased with it. If you don't mind slower write speeds and shopping around a bit, then you can pick them up for about £120 for the 256GB version (about £70 cheaper than the PRO)

Isn't the write speed dramatically different rather than the read speed?
