Ive got some OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Reaper HPC Edition Dual Channel DDR2 RAM on a P5Q-Pro motherboard. My system has been unstable in games since I built it.

I originally thought it was my gfx card cuz I was getting atikmdag errors and BSOD but I changed my RAM to a cheap stick of PC2-5300 and it became completely stable.

My memory also fails in prime95 blend test and the vista memory diagnostic tool but never fails in memtest. What does this suggest? A compatability issue or faultly RAM?

I'm worried that Ill send it back to o/c for an RMA and itll pass their memtest stressing and theyll just send it back to me.

I've changed the voltages (NB and RAM) and changed the clock speed down to 667MHz but nothing helps.

what voltage have you run the ram at?

i've had bad sticks in the past that have sailed through all memory tests, but any system they were put in, would randomly restart when in windows/linux

what board voltages are you running?

NB/SB/FSB Termination Voltage

What FSB Strap are you on?

What Frequency / Timmings are you running the RAM at?

ram 52 hour memtest86+ v2.01 test on some sticks i suspected were dodgey, they passed but system was still unstable.

used a memory tester called goldmemory and that clamped errors in 15 mins. thought i would give windows memory tester a try too and that also clocked some errors in 15-20 mins, think it was the stride6 test that spotted the errors.

moral of the story is, memtest86+ is a load of crap.

Rgr that, the memory has been sent back and been found faulty by o/c. They've sent me some new stuff. (all within the same day that they received it - very impressed - well done o/c :D)

How do you run this Vista Memory Tester utility then? I've never seen it anywhere when I've been using Vista...

think youll be able to find it through the start search bar by typing in "memory diagnostics tool". Or you can go via control panel and system maintenance. Just google it if you cant find it still :)
