Many of us have memory thats not on the motherboard QVL that run without any problems.

If you are truly worried then pick from the list.

Unless you have a real use for 32gb of ram you would be better off with 16gb which for most uses is plenty. Using 16gb or less also makes ocing easier and puts less stress on the IMC.

thanks for the comments so far guys, when you say less stress do you mean overhead ?

I am mostly concerned that I want to buy the ram for this system then use it and forget it with the minimum of overclocking involved.

If you have a use for 32gb of ram its not a problem with minimum ocing.

90% of users will never need that much though, you are just paying out for something you will not use.

The IMC is part of the CPU, when you get into heavy overclocking going for high memory and high CPU speeds this all puts stress on the CPU. Also having a larger ammount of memory installed gives the IMC in the CPU even more work to do.

Very sound advice thank you :)

My only doubt now is I wonder when 32gb will be needed and become the norm ?

my experience with Ram is you need to buy it all at the same time so the component quality and build is the same as that varies with the price of metal at the time.

By IMC do you mean the MCH = Memory Controller Hub ?

What i found for i7 Architecture was;-
Acronyms
CPU Central Processing Unit
DMI Direct Media Interface
FSB Front Side Bus
ICH Input / Output Control Hub
IOH Input / Output Hub
MCH Memory Controller Hub
SCH System Controller Hub
QPI Quick Path Interconnect

Get 4 x4gb Hynix based 2133mhz DIMMS kit. This offers the best bandwidth while not limiting overclock and is easily enough capacity too.

Not sure why you got that board over many offerings from ASUS etc.. which almost certainly will clock better and tune memory better too.
