Just got my new setup and I've encountered a problem. With my TRUE heatsink where it is, it only leaves 2 RAM slots free for my OCZ ReaperX RAM but only 1 of these can be filled due to the size of the RAM sticks. I either have to drop the TRUE and go with the stock heatsink or send the RAM back and get some without heatspreaders on the top.

Which would be preferable?

shouldnt you easily be able to remove the heatspreaders? And then you keep the RAM, keep your TRUE heatsink, and id say maybe just hold onto the heatspreaders in a cupboard somewhere in case they're needed for future reference?

Dunno how good my advice is however, may just break the RAM :P

I dont think it would break the warranty if you still had the heatspreaders in tact, They could probably clip in and out fairly easily?

But like you say, there for a reason.

I did warn you that my advice may not be ideal! hehe

No, I don't think so. I presume mine is a newer revision so instead of having 2 "bars" of metal with a hole in the end, it's just 1 piece which means I can only install it one way around :(

I'm assuming that you've got the same Ram as me?

when i was looking to buy there was also a lot of RAM on offer with the same specs as the OCZ stuff but without the heatspreaders.

The only reason i bought the heatsinked stuff was because it was the same price as the normal stuff and i thought what the hell ...

In my oppinion if its between the RAM and the TRUE, then the ram should go because you can get other sticks without the heatsinks that offer the same performance. The TRUE can't be replaced because its the best on the market ;)
