RAM Issue?

Hey guys,

I have recieved all my equipment and so far is running well, not long set it up.

The issue I have is that im on Windows 32 bit so I know its only allowed 4gigs, but when checking the BIOS it says under ram amounts of 4gigs, surely it should be 8 in the BIOS?

Can someone please shed some light on this, plus I will upload photos once its all setup, desk too etc..

do you have onboard gfx as this will use some ram?

edit : didnt read properly, yes it should show up as 8 in bios. try 1 stick at a time.

Try re-seating both sticks of ram, and swapping them around?

OK will try that Stulid, and para.

Due to the CPU cooler I had no space in slot 1and2 so had to use 3-4, would that affect it at all also?

shouldnt do, but check the dual channel setup. some mobos i have seen use 1+3 and 2+4 not 1+2 and 3+4 so you might be loosing out on that.

Hey guys, had some problems but after some changing the RAM strips around etc it now registers as 8gig in BIOS and in windows, now I just need a 64 bit install of windows 7

Your key should work with both 32 bit and 64 bit.
I have ISOs for Win7 Pro and Ultimate, so could burn you a copy?

not all keys work with both versions, only the retail ones. if he had a retail key he would have been supplied with both discs so chances are its the oem key.

Ah, ok. I get mine through a MAPS subscription and can install either 32 or 64 with the same key. (Also why I have Pro and Ultimate and not the "Home" varieties)
