Ram Overclocking

I have some cheap Ram think it was around £40 for 1 512 and the other 512 is outta my old HP Pavilion. Ive looked at the frequency of it on CPU-Z and its running at 166MHz. Is it worth overclocking it to get some extra preformance. Ive got some Asaka heatsinks on them and good case cooling. Ive also overclocked my P4 3.00 to 3.15 thinking of taking higher.

Ehat would you guys recomend to do?

Honestly ,save up and buy some decent RAM.

its worth giving them a push, as u are saving for some better ones anyway. just keep bumping it up 5mhz or so and test with memtest to check stability.

ok, wer i get mem test from? and how i kno they are stable?

memtest google it and download then u just run it off a floppy run several tests to know its stable.

it just needs to go on a device which can be booted onto eg usb drive.

burn a bootable cd, and make sure you get memtest86 1.65+. Your ram is PC2700 ?

the ram speed is not important. just run it, if it fails then u know they are not stable at that speed and lower the clock.

If it does not boot, will it just load BIOS?

yes. the bios will load normally, then u need to set it so that it looks for the bootable cd first rather than the hdd.
