Hey Guys,

I have never tampered with RAM overclocking until tonight.

Am I better off with:

1600 9 9 9 24 (stock)

or

1866 10 10 9 24

??

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm,

Overcloked settings fail prime95. Perhaps I'll just stick with stock.

I understand giving memory a voltage bump is a bad idea?

That memory is not designed for overclocking mate. So I would just leave it at stock as timings would need relaxing too much to be worth it.

Ok thanks.

It did start to seem a bit fruitless after 10 mins or so!

Do you see any worthwhile gains from OCing ram? Is it something to consider when buying Ram in the future?

I certainly do for my uses. It really does depend on what you use your PC for as to the benefits of RAM overclocking. Lerning how to overclock RAM does teach you a lot about a certain format or platform in that sense its very worthwhile.

Perhaps I'll get better ram next time then. I'll probably be doing another build in a couple of months when Haswell comes out.

What is the best on the market at the mo for overclocking?

Agreed, i had 16gb of corsair vengeance lp. It even made clocking the cpu alone a bit trickier. Dropped down to 8gb, cpu clocked fine to 4.5ghz, the vengeance lp wouldnt clock diddly squat, it needed 1.575 vdimm to do it's rated 1600mhz 9-9-9-24. Sold the remaining 8gb and got some sammy green, 2133mhz, 9-10-10-22 with a little bit of tweaking, same voltage as the vengeance.

Samsung Green, I just purchased 16GB from OCuk and love it!

9.9.9.25 at 1.4v 1866mhz and from what I've heard it'll go a lot higher than that with a little more voltage and relax the settings a little.

If you want good performance from integrated graphics, you'll need higher memory speeds, rather than lower latencies. I use overclocked sammies too & get 10-10-10-28-1T @ 2133 1.45v
