Hi, for starts im running a Gigabyte p35c-ds3r mobo, 8gb Mushkin memory (4x2gb sticks) Q9550 CPU GeForce 8800 ultra

Ive OC'ed my CPU to 3.5ghz and it runs stable on all the Prime95 tests, i was in game (Boarderlands) for 5-6 hours last night which is a long time by my standards, all of a sudden the game started to crash, i validated the files and it worked untill the next map was loaded, then crashed again, done the same in COD 4 too.

I tried running a blend test on Prime95 and it would error within the first test, on small FFT's test it would run fine. I shut down for the night as it was 2am and tried the test this morning and it was still running fine an hour later.

So my question, is something overheating? My pc was blowing out nice warm air but temps in RealTemp and SpeedFan were fine. My graphics card peaked at 80oc but thats ok isn't it?

Thanks in advance
Dan

Could be. Next time it crashes put your finger on the ram heat sinks, if it's hot then aim a fan at them. If they're cold to the touch look elsewhere, possibly the chipset heatsinks.

Good luck

Thanks for the info, ill set a fan up to cool the RAM and north bridge, the RAM was warm to touch when it started playing up, not sure how hot it'll run without a performance drop though.

Ill post up results soon

My ram was causing errors in prime after a minute too. I touched it and burned my finger, i then lowered the volts from 2.1 to 2 and its ok now. Probably still running hot because its overclocked but less volts and still works

Its OCZ Platinum im using. Rated at 4-4-4-15 2.1v. Running 5-5-5-15 2.1V. Overclocked from 800mhz to about 860. Its now at about 850, 2.0v

I put a fan over it in the end, it died a few weeks later so im guessing it was on its way out when i was having problems.

Mine was Mushkin running at the rated speed, not sure if id OC'd the CPU at that point.
