RAM prices about to go crazy??

Sigh, not good for anything really, its not just DDR prices that will take a hit, SSD & GPU markets will also to a hit.

Thankfully I'd think the majority of GPU board partners already have healthy allocations from Samsung and Elpida for upcoming cards.

Well this is bad news. I was going to wait and see what comes out in the next few months, but now I am not too sure if I should get a new graphics card now. When the prices of hard drives went up it took about a year for them to come back down?

Back then we had SSD's to fall back on and that's when they took off. Now with this, we have no alternative.

This also may effect the price of the AMD 9 series GPU's when released.

Is this only likely to effect graphics cards or can we expect regular DDR3 SODIMMs to go up? I've been meaning to get 16GB for my laptop for a while now...

Hynix seem to be downplaying the significance of this.

I bought some ram in june, Samsung Green (8GB) - at £55 or thereabouts.

Tonight, having heard the news, i got wifely permission to blow a bit extra on some more, and saw this:

More than double the price!

I don't know what the price was yesterday, but wow!

Sammy green has been on the rise since around march of this year, I paid circa £65 for 16gb in January, not long after prices shot up. A strange one when you can get far better dimms for less money.
