why have they shot up recently, the geil ull was 17.99 + vat a few weeks ago, 22 quid or so now its 33.99 + vat. ,massive difference. whats the reason is there shortage or something?

Ram prices constatnly change, theres a whole supply and demand situation, as welll as other issues affecting production etc

yeah, but its doubled in price in less than a month. thats a massive change, the usual few quid here no-one cares or notices but this is big changes

Could also be to do with the general economic conditions at the moment, seem to remember that being a reason given for increases in other prices recently.

also remember when it was at £17.99 + VAT it was on a "special", but yeah memory prices are on the up everywhere

they will keep dropping and going up until DDR3 becomes the dominate ram used then DDR2 will increase in price like the old DDR did :)

was 17.99 special but think it was only 22 off special. seem to be reduced atm, but got caught out last time when ocuk did this only this weekend deal then dropped it by more the following two

Hmm, see what you mean. Have been toying with the idea of getting 8GB of the OCUK value memory, and see its gone up today...

Still the OCZ 667MHz is going for £50 for 4GB, and seem sto OC quite well, so maybe will think about getting some of them.

Things is I want my system to last until end next year (maybe a little longer), and with memory prices as they are, whether or not 8GB is needed, may as well get it now while its still relatively cheap rather than find its doubled (or more) when/if 8GB becomes handy.
