Hi,

I built my first PC a few weeks and decided to check the ram settings were correct only recently. When I have tried using the XMP Profile, the system became unstable (BSOD, Freezing and random reboots). On default it was fine and when i entered the settings manually it works but it is a little unstable, some BSOD. I have tried to seach why but haven't been able to. Not sure if there is a fault with a component. Everything is on stock settings.

I ran Memtest with XMP enabled and it had errors on all sticks and slots. With it on default it had no errors.

Spec are:
Gigabyte Z97P-D3
4690K
8GB Teamgroup Vulcan 2133Mhz
R9 270
550W Superflower PSU
SSD & HDD

have you flashed to latest bios from gigabyte website? id do that first as it might be more stable for the ram

whats the rated ram voltage and timings for xmp 2133 profile?

you might need a touch more dram v

you can also select the ram speed in the bios see how high you can get it before it starts playing up,try 2000mhz or 1866mhz

(can always flash back to previous bios but latest would be better)

here are the spec of the ram

Do I just slowly up the speed. what about the voltage and timings?

I can only put it down to poor bios support for that board/ram idk but it should run at rated speed/timings off the bat

i would try with a lower ram speed at first, try with 2000mhz,leave all timings on auto

set dram voltage to 1.55v
