ram settings in bios

so, today I'm running memtest to see if there are any errors. The test is running fine so far (test 1 of 8). Memtest has labelled the ram as PC4-1700 DDR4 1067mhz at 15-15-15-36 ????
the specs are 3733 mhz (18-20-20-39)
Could the ram have been labelled wrongly from the start? I mean it's running fine at the moment with the OS installed apart from the slow speeds, timing and voltage ??

nope .. cant set xmp as it has wrong values and if I set manually it will not boot at all (no memory installed error) ... thought I would run a check to see if memory was bad ... but nothing so far ..

8pack as noted the a x170 build will struggle to be stable with any ram over 3200Mhz. so i think your problem is.... its just not supported.

the info on your motherboard say..
4 x DIMM, Max. 64GB, DDR4 3866(O.C.)/3800(O.C.)/3733(O.C.)/3600(O.C.)/3500(O.C.)/3466(O.C.)/3400(O.C.)/3333(O.C.)/3300(O.C.)/3200(O.C.)/3000(O.C.)/2800(O.C.)/2666(O.C.)/2400(O.C.)/2133 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory

the text (O.C.) means said ram speed can be hit via O.C(overclocking). and sadly overclocking is not 100% guaranteed.

I would return the ram ans get a good 2666Mhz kit, 2666Mhz is the goto speed for ddr4 right now

I wrote to Team Group and asked for their advice. They replied that:

"Dear Sir, Thank you for contacting Team Group RMA team.

Team Group is always trying to provide you with simple and efficient customer service.

1. Please check CPU-Z SPD,you need load XMP, that’s will 3733.

2. According to your request,

It is because of the difference in capacity conversion between manufacturers and PCs.

Hardware manufacturers use the metric scale, i.e. 1K=1000 bytes.

However, Microsoft uses the binary scale, i.e. 1K=1024 bytes.

Therefore, the capacity of a 3733 disk will become+-5GB when displayed on Windows.

Thank you again for contacting with our Taiwan RMA team,

If there is any further questions please don’t hesitate to let us know,

We hope you will be satisfied with our service and thank you again for choosing Team Group products."
Now I did look in CPU-Z and I did actually see my ram listed correctly so that is a good thing. Unfortunately I cannot for the life of me get XMP to work without an "overclock failure" or "missing memory" error ... So I think you may be right. I shall have to go back to OCUK for a return :-(
