Hi all

I need buy some ram for threadripper and just deciding on ram.

I have some G skill Z F4-3200C14D-16GTZRX RGB ram that i initially bought for 2700x but things have changed and now moving onto threadripper. I could just buy another 3 sets of this ram and settle for 2x8gb x 4 = 64GB but I recently saw that Gskill do another ram F4-3200C16D-32GTZRX which is Cas 16-18-18-38 which i can get for £300.

Then there is these from which are not certified for AMD platform F4-3200C14D-32GTZR which is £450 and CAS 14-14-14-34 but are samsung B die and work with AMD platform from my research.

I really dont want to spend 4x £450 that is a lot of money for just ram, as a compromise i though maybe get the Cas 16-18-18-38 which is quite a bit cheaper. My question is that will I loose a lot of performance droping from CAS 14 to 16, from all my research it says not much and paying the premium for the 14 is not worth it. Just want to make sure before spending so much.

also from my research 4-3200C16D-32GTZRX Cas 16-18-18-38 is samsung B die, but i have never seen B die at these timing. Actually this was true until OCUK put up the new AORUS RGB ram which is samsung B die very recently.

or i could just get 3 more pair of my 2x8gb

thanks for any help.

Return the kit for a refund and purchase a singular kit. If you need to ask the questions above, don't combine memory kits. As for the latency increase, the performance difference will be negligible.
