Currently have Corsair XMS3 here

With a Gigabyte X58A UD3R motherboard.

Can i install Kingston These

Assuming manufacturer will make no difference and the speed of these two kits are the same. Can i still mix a 12gb kit (3 x 4gb) with a 6gb kit (3 x 2gb) to make 18gb?

You should be able to use all 6 sticks together for 18GB.

The tRAS on the Kingston is slightly higher so you may need to run all 6 sticks at the Kingston timing.

Filling all 6 RAM slots can affect the overclock settings but you won't know until you try it.

You may need to settle for a slightly lower overclock or tweak some settings for what you have now.

You have Windows 7 Ultimate (I assume 64 bit) so you'll be OK with more than 16GB of RAM.

Not to worry about the overclock as i've been running at stock speeds.

and win 7 professional at 64 bit so yes that'll utilize over 3.5gb RAM.

and it's the X58A not the EX58 :D

How much of an improvement would i notice with my rig if i installed 8 or 16gig of 1600mhz DDR3 compared to the 8gig of 1333mhz i currently have installed.

Very little I would think.

1600MHz instead of 1333MHz isn't going to make much difference.

16GB instead of 8GB isn't going to make any difference unless you do stuff like run virtual machines or graphics editing involving projects with many layers.

Your sig. say Ultimate.

Even with 64 bit the Home Premium Edition can only use 16GB.

I realised.

That's why I edited the post ;)

Yeah sigs a tad outdated :D.

And it's the professional edition so i think it has the same limits as ultimate.

Cheers for your help, think i'll go for a set of these.
