I got a pc bought for me from PC World when I was younger (Yes I was much too young to think about building my own pc! :p)

Anyway, it's Siemens RAM and I have 512mb of it, it's pc3200 and I ran a memory test and it said my Mobo can support upto pc4000, but i've tried looking and I cant find any pc4000 on Overclockers, only pc4200, would this work?

And also can I replace all of my ram with new Ram and it will work just fine on the next reboot? Many Thanks to whoever can help :p

pc 4200 wont work as it's DDR2 ram, pc 3200 is DDR or DDR1, which is essentially just means it's an older generation of RAM. to use pc4200 ram you would need to upgrade your motherboard and possibly processor aswell.

I myself have never heard of ddr pc4000 ram so I'm assuming it's hard to get hold of.

If I were you, I'd chuck out the old ram and buy either this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-004-OK&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=557

or this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-006-OK&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=481

depending on how much ram you need of course. Ram is so cheap these days anyway.

hope this helps :D

Yes you would. I went from 1gb to 2gb and notice a big improvement in overal windows performance and in games to. Also when exiting a rather demanding game you no longer have to wait for your desktop to "appear" and have your PC feel laggy for a few mins.

As far as I know my Mobo doesnt support Dual Channel, but will that RAM work fine still? i'm thinking of putting in 3 gig, since thats the max Vista 32bit supports :p

MSI KT400-8235, it's a really old Mobo so dont expect too many good results about it ;p. and Many Thanks for the help :) :p

Just checked and dual channel is not supported. Apparently your motherboard supports 3Gb with 1Gb per slot, dont hold it against me though!

Haha nah it's an old PC so I dont mind things like that, as long as I can squeeze some extra life out of it, but I can still use Dual Channel RAM right? it just wont operate in Dual Channel mode? :p

Ram isn't "dual channel", Dual or single channel depends on the motherboards memory controller. So you shouldn't have any problems :)

Ahhh I just saw Dual Channel kits, and some didnt have that labelled thats all, when it comes to RAM I need to learn a bit more :) :p but thanks a lot for your help anyway :)
