Far Far Away!
Hi guys, i had this problem a while ago, and it seems to have come back,

Firstly I had 8gb ram and now just upgraded to 16. same make of RAM etc.

The problem I'm having is it's saying only 15.7gb usable, where it should be 16.

the image i've provided is basic but show's you what i mean, I don't see why it's using system shared memory when all the memory is dedicated for the graphics card.

I can't find anywhere in the mobo to disable onboard gpu.
Specs are in signature.

Thanks for any help to get it back to 16gb.

i disable vga in device manager but doesnt stop it. and it auto installs when i delete it from device manager on everyboot up.

:((

I think it has to be disabled in the BIOS. If your motherboard doesn't have an option to disable it you might be out of luck.

Do you have Lucid Virtu installed/enabled?

lucid virtu is disabled.
i've reset cmos and reset speed values.

I've look everywhere in the bios and there is no obvious options. graphics option is set to auto, but even enabling PCIE as the option doesn't resolve it.

i can't find any drivers for the onboard graphics to remove, but windows keeps auto installing VGA driver.

I originally had 8gb ram and had the same problem, moved them to different slots and it magically showed 8gb. tried the same with these sticks and nothing

Now i've added 8gb more, the problem has come back. :(

Recently had this problem, but showing only half my ram available.

Went to msconfig, boot tab, then advanced settings, and unchecked the Maximum memory box. Quick reboot and all my ram was available again.

Should add that in your image to the right were system shared memory is, mine is saying 8gb shared, 3gb dedicated but under system properties it's listed as 16gb usable.

Hi mate, i had a look at this, and it hasn't done anything?

even when i tick the box and select 16.... it doesn't work?

I'm debating on wether to do a clean install. although 3mb, isn;t anything, it's the frustration of what it could be.

There are 4 slots on the mother board,

2 Black and 2 red. When i just had 2 ram sticks in the black slots it showed 8gb. When i had the 2 sticks in the red it showed 7.69 usable. So i'm wondering why the 2 slots are affecting my memory.

If I remember correctly, there's no way to disable the onboard with the Asus Maximus V Gene (I have no idea why Asus did this). I guess the best option is to just try lower the IGP RAM limit in BIOS.

It's less than 2%, will you really miss it?

Or does it come with some kind of system performance penalty?

i just found it odd that i have a dedicated GPU, and my system still takes >3mb or whatever it is. and that my mobo is a bit turd for disabling onboard graphics.

it's more of a control thing knowing i can disable it if i wanted.

learnt to deal with it now, eh eh.

I have a similar issue

I have been using 4x4GB of GSKILL RIPJAW.

These have been used as 2x4GB in 2 other systems and I know the RAM is 100% perfect.

The system that I have all 4 in now, is a Sabretooth & 8350 and it does see all 4 and it does see the full 16GB, however, the system randomly pauses certain apps at random times, and its does things that are very much RAM related.

Now, the other week on the MM I bought some Mushkin ( 2x4GB ) for another setup and just a few days ago, I bought another pair of the same.

I chuck them into the sabretooth and viola... 12GB ... eh?

paired up, I get 8GB for both pairs, but 12GB for all 4 ?

Going into Windows, it does indeed see all 16GB and then gives me only 11.7GB useable.

Not happy.

The sabretooth has a special little button that forces RAM to be compatible, or does somethi9gn to make it more compatible ( or whatever ) and so I have had a play about with that and the BIOS, but absolutely no reason at all why GSKILL is fine but Mushkin only gives 12 ?
