I currently have in my PC 2x CM2x2048-8500C5C 1066MHz 2048MB 5-6-6-18 2.10V ver4.1
I'm looking at buying another 2 sticks, but its proving rather difficult to find them. I have found some on ebay with exactly the same model number, but a different ver(sion) number. Mine are ver4.1, the ones I have found are ver1.2.
Will this make a difference? or is still exactly the same model?
Thanks.

That model number sounds to be like Corsair.

In practice it shouldn't make a difference unless you plan on overclocking. This is because the different versions you see denoted as v1.1, v1.2, v2.1 etc. mean that Corsair used different memory IC's, which in turn alter their electrical characteristics. I.e. one PCB with v1.1 stamped on might have Micron IC's while the other with v2.1 might be ProMos. Apart from the potential change in overclockability they *may* have different voltage requirements and/or timings.

I always opt for the same version. Your other option is to sell the ones you have and then get two matched sets of an alternative, perhaps more commonly available version.

Thankyou. I just missed, on ebay, a set of 4x 2gb Dominator 1066mhz sell for £78, and a pair of 2gb like mine sell for £70.
If I had been quicker, I could have upgraded to 8gb and sold my old sticks for a cost of £8. :(

you don't have to add the exact same memory into your system to make it work you know.

one of my mates run PNY and (I think) corsair memory together on his 1366 rig on its fine.

it isn't like the bad old days of having the exact same memory together to run the system
