i have 6 gb ddr3 C7 1600MHZ corsair ram if i wanted to add another 6gb of ram, would i need the same model and the same make?

Ideally, yes. But you usually can get away with RAM of the same speed, voltage and timings.

Please be aware that using up all RAM slots will mean you will have to re-configure any overclock you currently have in place and may mean you can't hit the previous CPU speed or RAM rated speed due to the extra strain placed on the memory controller.

yeah i do know that

i have an i7 920 but i still didnt manage to overclock it im so embarrassed :/

so i can go with anything that is 1600mhz and is C7?

As long as they are the same/similar voltages and ram timings then you should be fine.
