Ramadan 2014

Eid Mubarak, you guys are hardcore, no drinking in this Weather I just couldn't do it, I drink water all the time, total test of willpower so congrats

It's remarkable how quick the body adjusts to fasting though, it really isn't that difficult, it honestly sounds much harder than it actually is. I'm going to try and continue fasting one day every week from now on.

Edit: We've had glorious weather all month, I bet it takes a turn for the worse now...

Eid Mubarak to all :)

On the topic, isnt there a sunnah of the prophet to fast one or 2 days a week?

Yes there is, twice a week if I remember correctly with one of the sunnah days being a Monday which is the day I intend to fast. It's something I've read only recent reports on where it's proving to be very beneficial.

As a Muslim, I believe that there is nothing at all that was recommended by the prophet pbuh which can possibly be detrimental to our health and well being because I believe he spoke the truth. I find it interesting though when I see reports confirming the benefits of some of the things that he pbuh has advised us to do 1400 years ago. An example is to chew a small part of a date and soften it in your mouth and place it in the mouth of your newborn child. http://www.theguardian.com/society/2013/sep/25/dextrose-brain-damage-newborns-low-sugar

There are so many other basic traditions which we should try to adopt because we don't even know the benefits of them in many cases.

Eid Mubarak to all.

Really enjoyed fasting this year. First few days were a little difficult but once your body adjusts, its actually feels quite good. You don't have to worry about eating throughout the day, your digestive system gets time to recover, less visits to the toilet and when you eat, you eat healthy homemade food and eat together as a family. In fact I'm going to continue fasting for select days of the week from now on.

Lol I'd be lying if I say I'm going to miss them, looking forward to a coffee and fag in morning.

lol, get yourself a decent e-cig bro and quit that rubbish - i've been clean of fags since january :) - Made ramadhan sooooo much easier this year, not having to crave fags. (Missed the coffee though! - My local Costa missed me 2 lol)

Sad its gone tbh - Spent two months dreading it prior and then like the blink of an eye it just disappears :(

Remembers peeps - We are not worshippers of the month of Ramadhan - but worshippers of Allah swt - keep up the ibadah and don't be classed as Ramadan Warriors ;) Use Ramadhan as a training session to better yourself. (A reminder to myself first and foremost)

Eid Mubarak - May Allah swt accept it from me and from you. x

I'm not Muslim but recently I've been doing 21 hour fasts, where I leave myself a 3 hour window to eat. The first few days I had stomach pains, after that it just feels normal, weight is dropping off. It's pretty much intermittent fasting and nearly everyone who does it reports weightloss unless you go crazy and eat 2500 calories+ inside the 3 hour window.

I might try longer fasts in the future as they are meant to be very beneficial for the immune system and for degenerative illnesses.
