For some reason I've find it just a tad difficult. But I'm enjoying it.

its just cant be healthy!

to celebrate on your behalf im going to eat whenever I want and not because of some made up book of rules tells me too

It's come early has it not? I remember people at school fasting so that must have been during term-time. As you're not allowed water what do you do on the odd exceptionally hot day which we are likely to come across in August. Do you give fasting a miss or carry on?

The amusing part of this comment is that the theory behind doing the fasting is actually very altruistic and that maybe everyone could actually benefit from doing it.

Before I get flamed for pushing Islamic ideas on others I'm Catholic :p

Why is Ramadan fun? I see people saying enjoy it and people enjoying it but if I tried to go 18 hours without food I'd feel ill.

Just a guess but aside from the religious motivation and the reasons behind that there's bound to be a sense of common achievement and satisfaction from completing the fast successfully. You're giving yourself a challenge and at the same time being encouraged to think of those less fortunate than yourself - I can see why people would feel they've gained something from it. However that's from an outsiders perspective so maybe a Muslim member would like to give their view and say how far wrong I am. :)

Quite on the topic there, but it's more to do with self restraint. Like trying not to swear, look at rude things, not touch females during your fast and so on. Having time to reflect on what you can prove on.

In Ramadan the gates of the heavens are opened, and hells gates are closed. Satan is chained up. We remember our creator and read the 5 prayers and read the Qur'an. Remember the less fortunate and again try self restrain ourselves from sins.

Happy Ramadhan Mubarak. The June Ramadhan is said to be the most challenging one especially in hot countries if my info is correct as the days are longer. It can go upto 21+ hours:eek:. I haven't experienced it yet but my mum has when she was in her teenage years. She told me that she kept few fasts and then gave up as the hot weather was too much to bear.

Reminds me of all those poor people where ever they may be as to how they struggle to fill their hungry bellies. Thats why in Islam there is heavy emphasis on charity 'Zakat' plus voluntary donations to help the weak in the society which is sadly lacking today.

I think it goes like this; every year the Ramadhan arrives 10 days earlier than in the previous year due to the difference between gregorian calender and Islamic calender. So every year Ramadhan is moving 10 days back. So in 4/5 years time we will be experiencing the June Ramadhan.
