I have 16GB of RAM i don't think it ever uses even 6GB.

If i was to setup a 6GB RAMdisk for some pagefiling and probably firefox, photoshop install would I benefit from this?

I run 32gb of memory split 12 for pc, 20gb for ramdisk, ramdrive use it for firefox cache, temp files, etc, plus as a work area for photoshop.
Also ram drives are cleared when shutting down, so anything personal is gone for ever, but you can 'Save Disk Image on Shutdown' to your hard disk.
This is my favourite software I use for a ramdisk: http://memory.dataram.com/products-and-services/software/ramdisk?
Dataram do a free version which allows you to make a 4gb ramdisk, so give a try.

See this thread.

Also search on this forum plenty of threads on ram drives, ram disks.

I know peeps who have moved their Cookies Folder to a ram drive, but it involves tweaking the registry, but it's something I have never tried.

Firefox cache is easy to move, but Chrome is a little bit harder to do.

i only use internet explorer tbh and i did that 1 easily.

have noticed a bit of speed up and stuff but deffo slower boot and shutdown not really bothered though.

as long as it takes writes off my ssd im not bothered

Thought I'd try it out, was so easy and now pagefile is on the ramdisk, might make a larger one as I don't need 8Gb ram...

Trying to move my chrome cache over to my R(RAMdisk) drive. Any tips? I am trying to use google guide atm but it's not working lol.

update: I just used SteamMover to make symbolic link to a folder on my ramdisk.

If you use anything that will access anything a lot then a RAMdisk will do wonders, especially for stuff like Photoshop caches and stuff like that.

You got an Asrock board and Asrock has a free utility called XFast RAM that can make a RAMdisk.

Got several Asrock boards, & I never knew that, learn something new everyday, seldom ever used the free utilities:o.

Don't Asus also include a ram disk utility with their X79 boards?

One thing I like about ram disk, is you can have more than one, if you have the memory available.

XFast RAM xD Asrock has so many gimmicks but they make it funny I think in their videos. ******* motherboard dehumidifier is funny.

I used my Ramdisk for league of legends, whole game on it, loaded so fast but had to wait for everyone else to load anyway so was pointless! If I used photoshop I would use it with ramdisk but would be worried in case of powercuts, isn't cache safer on a ssd/hdd? Tempted to get another 8Gb ram just for Ramdisks lol.

I have photoshop, plus I save all my jpegs/raw images to my hard drive first, but use ramdisk as a workspace to work on the photo's, saving occasionally to the hard drive, finished work is then put on the hard drive.

All cache is a temporary folder, for example Firefox cache, is just images, website details, & a few other things.
Same with History, only a list of sites you visited, most peeps clear it regularly, so it's better on a ram disk as it's cleared on shutdown, unless you set your ram disk to back up to your hard drive.

And don't even think about putting your Recycle Bin on a ram disk.:o

I had a really awesome idea...that didn't work. :(

My laptop has 8gb of RAM, but Win7 x86 only uses 4gb max. So I thought I'd install SuperSpeed RAMDISK and make the extra 4gb into a RAMDISK - the problem is that the software only used the memory that Windows had addressed, so it didn't work. :/

How annoying!
