Rampage II Extreme orange BIOS light, no POST.

Have the same board at home, actually going home tonight to pull it apart as it shut down with an overheating SB fault (auto shuts at 90 deg) last night.

Not much help apart from pain felt.

:(

Well if it is fried, you know where to send your BIOS chips ;) <3

I changed the TIM on mine the other day, it was awful, baked on, rock solid, white yuck. If you haven't changed it it might be worth trying?

(I hope your board isn't fried :()

no just one it can only boot from one chip at a time

they should pull out on asus boards

I know that, I just meant to eliminate the risk of it screwing up the fresh one because there are two dodgy ones, or something. :)

Cheers mate, you have actually confirmed something I was thinking, the paste had dried rock hard and maybe come away from heatsink.

I hope it isn't fried either :p Though I won't see you stuck if it has.

No problem. :)

I obviously can't comment on the temperature changes because it didn't work before, or after! :p

Though on my old Striker II Formula, it reduced them by a whopping 30 degrees! (But the Striker II was well known for its shoddy TIM, and it was even older so...)

Im having the same issue with the same board. I just bought it with a i7950 and have a Xeon to go in.

I have no display and no beeps. was sold to me as working though.

So far i have tried.

Changing gfx card from 7950 to 780
taking out all but one of the sticks of Ram
Disconnecting all pci-e cards & hdd leaving only board and GFX connected.

Have i bought a dud?

I dont know, I gave up with mine. I changed the BIOS chip for a new one as well, and that didn't sort it. If you want to try a new BIOS chip, PM me your address and I'll post you the new one I bought. It is no good to me. :p

Are you trying to use it with the i7 first?

I bought it as a bundle and thought the way it was shipped was the way it had been ran but the seller had taken the ram out and put them back in the wrong slots. Swapped them over and she booted right up! Im a bit embarrassed I didnt check that sooner. :(
Thanks for the reply.
