ramthor's monster build

you can get 240hz monitors already ;)

60 hz to 120hz is a massive leap.144hz more again.

its easy to notice.

fps is almost troll arguement.

the difference can be seen/felt when playing.

Yup... only the resolution and size of the screen are not favourable to me.

I'm happy to stick with my 27" 2560x1440 144Hz monitor until they bring out better resolution and/or pixel densities.

Ouch to the price but if you've got disposable income then why not. Be a decent build. I'm comfortable building PCs but at the cost of some of the components i'd be tempted to let OCUK put it all together incase you make a cockup (not saying you will but human error is always a possibility)

I'm sorry people but your feels don't add up IRL.

Lets take Facemans figures. 200hz so 5ms delay between feels. SLI will probably add 2 to 3 frames of latency so already you're at 15-20ms and possibly more depending on how demanding the frame is. Now lets look at the network stack. If windows is running the show you can add another 20ms and if your playing competitively online you can another 20-60ms.

All this is before you start considering USB delays, keyboard and mouse input responses times and CPU overheads. Not to mention the delays that come from LCD screens.

If you can notice 10ms delays then you really should hate gaming. Tech's like FreeSync and Gsync must seem horrible as that will add another frame to the delay chain.

I get the fast screen update want, but if you truly can see/feel the difference after 85hz you can make much better use of money to reduce latency.

If he feels more comfortable as a certain refresh rate you cant argue with it, only he can see through his eyes and knows what feels best.

For FPS players the tiniest difference can put them off, i remember when my ping used to change from 12ms to 20ms in CS when i switched between my EU and UK server and it felt so much slower. Nowadays i dont play FPS competitively so i choose quality and resolution over speed most of the time.

With the amount of power ramthor is throwing into this PC he should get a decent compromise of refresh rate and resolution with no compromise on quality. If ya have the money why not :)

there's something very, very wrong with this thread. I've never seen an OcUK post get filled up with so much vitriol and petulance.

I guess everyone like ramthor more than you crinkle :)

You didnt fancy another InWin case crinkles? that last one ya had looked fantastic.

It must be the price tag that drives people mad and feel the need to spit me in the face out of jealousy.

On the flip side, my build log for a very similar build hasn't seen many posts at all... but at least they're much more positive :D

You haven't put the price of your build in the OP and that's why you escaped the fury of the masses. :)

Ya see it a lot on big build logs, like you said its probably the price tag since it was in the title to start it will have drawn in a lot of trolls, now its been removed i suspect youll get a lot less.

Haha... maybe :D

I do like the InWin cases... but the recessed I/O panel on the 909 was annoying and this time I really wanted to increase the number of radiators, even if it wasn't necessary.

I really like the look of the transformer case and there are another one or two InWin cases that I think look awesome... but they just don't have the cooling capacity that I wanted for this build.

Might help :)

I see my comment comparing reactions to a 6 grand forum build and a 6 grand 8 Pack pre-build has been deleted.

Perfectly valid comparison IMO.

I've clearly stated in my OP the build itself will start in October.

I think I'm fed up with all the negativity in this forum.

Maybe I should look around for friendlier communities.
