Hi People,

Ive got a strange problem with my PC. (Well its Strange to me.)
Whenever im playing a Game, for instance. WoW :P my computer will occausionally lock up, loop a 1/2 second clip of noise and just be unusable untill i press the reset button... :(

Sometimes it Bluescreens shortly after this, other times it wont...

Also it BSOD's when barely doing anything (IE / MSN) and has trouble booting (Doesnt Post and resets before it gets past the "Gigabyte DS3 Screen". I usually get around this by removing the memory modules and putting them back in...

Anyhelp would be appreciated. Especially the top issue because thats way more apparant. The second issue usually arrises on the *VERY* Rare occausion. (Just thought i'd mention it :) )

Thanks

almost sounds like your motherboard might be on it's way, my old one displayed similar signs a few weeks back

have you got another board to test?
try stressing your system to narrow down the potential causes, i stressed mine with Ibt and furmark running at the same time to eliminate cpu and gfx, have you got onboard gfx?

The first problem doesnt appear when playing any games (that ive noticed) apart from World of Warcraft,

But the second appears randomly when doing barely anything.

I have a XFX GTX 260 and a 600W OCZ StealthXStream PSU.

I tried booting with each ram stick individually (i got 4 sticks [8gb]) and it booted successfully with them all...

Try mem test on your ram, just I'm case you havers faulty module.

Im not a novice with computers but i can never boot from a USB Stick on this PC. it Really does not like USB's at all... :\ is there anyway of running Memtest another way?

I ran a full memory diagnostic test (Windows 7 Built in one) and no errors were found...

Any other Suggestions? :(

Download the iso file and burn onto a CD, it will boot from this.

When I was getting random lock-ups and BSODs it was the CPU dying but it could easily also be the RAM or motherboard. I'd do a memtest since RAM is the easiest thing to rule out.

EDIT: Ah, so you've done that already. Maybe try a CPU stress program to see if you get a freeze straight away? Also maybe try upping your voltages a tad (or lowering your multiplier/FSB).

I've had a problem similar to this, It turned out it was my overclock as when i ran IBT it would freeze/BSOD on the 2nd or 3rd test, As others have said, try run memtest and leave it running for 5 or more passes. Also download IBT and stress your CPU.

Ouch :(
Memtest shows nothing. So the memory should be fine.
Im Running the CPU Stock, So i wouldnt think that should be needed as the CPU has and can run at 3.6Ghz Stable on stock voltage... :|

Help!

This may seem silly and it could just be a coincidence but i had been getting BSOD's and i reformatted in IDE mode without making as many "tweaks" to windows and i have not had one since. My point is that could it not be a software issue; trying reformatting or removing some recently added items?

@ SolidSnake - It Happened to the last *3* Fresh Installs of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit. :(

@Smeaney - Sometimes when it locks up it will not Bluescreen so i just reset.
But if it does it says Memory Management, In the Event Viewer under "Adminstrative Events" there are Multiple Critical Erorrs which are when the computer Crashes. They all have the same Reason and ID.
