Random drug testing.

I have to do an alcohol/drug test every time i visit the mines. For most mines here its standard practice to do an breath and urine test as you clock on your shift. You must read 0.0 or you dont work.

My brother in law was training to be a Submariner in the RN and failed a drugs test (Canabis) as they came back from Christmas leave. I think it had been a week prior that he had last smoked.

When my brother was in the micks, a load of guys from Belfast came back from holidays and tested positive for MDMA and got bounced straight back out the door. Funnily enough though, there was never any problem with guys being drunk from the night before and doing guard duty. So long as they were sort of capable of marching back and forth, out they went.

stuff like this is why current popular methods or 'random drug testing' are total rubbish

if they where testing your current state then that would be great and totally fair but why do work now control my weekends and my holidays as well as the 5 days im there.

they also want to know every single medicine i take just 'incase' even though imo its none of their buisness if it doesn't effect my work or safety

When i was offshore the rig crews got done a few times but not us contractors.

I wouldn't be too happy wondering if the crane op was wasted or chuffing away up there whilst swinging them containers about.

Love that hypocrisy.

My military colleagues get tested every so often but I don't have to, thankfully..

Nope not at where i work, dont think ive ever been drug tested at any place i have worked.

We get random drug and alcohol tests all the time. The level for alcohol is a quarter of the drink-driving limit. I just avoid drink completely the day before I'm working.
