Random FPS issue in games

Basically whatever game i seem to play, i get an fps drop randomly for a few seconds. In battlefield 3, it only does this once in the game, but it will freeze, and my fps will drop for 70+ to 1, for like 5 secs, then it goes back to normal and everything is fine. League of legends, i get a random fps drop to 30fps from the constant 60, which makes the game laggy as .. usually after 10 secs or so it fixes itself, but just then it wouldnt fix, so i kept minimizing etc and my game ended up in windowed mode? :S

then gotham city imposters.... game freezes, minimized on its own, so i load it back its fine, but if i hit escape itl minimized again.

its so weird and random. sometimes also il asee a square box flash in the top left in LoL game, like theres something in the background/desktop..

hope all that makes sense.

specs: i5 2500k 4.4ghz, 8 gig ram, 7950 3gb, crucial m4 ssd
 
what psu are you running ?

have you run memtest over your memory ?

latest drivers for the graphics card, all updates loaded for the games.

have you tried lowering the graphics levels/resolution to see if the problem still occurs ?

what do you have running on the system in the background aside from the game you decide to load ?
 
xfx 850 w psu, i havent run memtest no. drivers are up to date.

dont really wanna lower graphics settings when the games run smooth, just on the rare occasion this happens :(

mumble, steam, firefox usually open, thats about it
