Random Freezing

Just had a crash sadly after running a 4.4Ghz OC for over a week. System was just being used for light media use.

Yeah but we have progressed from that now. To get a more reliable measurement, download prime95 and do test #2 in-place FFT (max heat, max power). It should report a hardware failure on 1-2 threads after X minutes. And that is the measurement / rate of occurence to record as a control.

So you should be doing that now (and perhaps on a heavier OC setting). That is to say before getting the next intel microcode update. So that you have a solid reference point. Then re-do the same test again (with same OC setting) after microcode update.

Its all very well just me doing it. But that won't provide any independant confirmation / that results are valid. So we benefit more if other people are also participating too.

Have been running Prime95 for just under two hours with your settings above and have had no crashes so far. I should mention that this test was ran on the same overclock as i have been running for the past week.

Test 1 = (FTT / Max Heat + Max Power for 1hr 50) 4.4GHz @ 1.3V - Pass - http://postimg.org/image/8h2436p6z/

Will run this test on other overclocks and see the result, but was expecting a crash from the run.

After the Prime95 / Intel microcode fix, I am now testing 4.6 GHz, graduall decreasing the voltage each week. Started at 1.40v, then reduced to 1.37v. No freezing after 9 days so have reduced to 1.35v. It has been running for 2 days so far no crashes.

The only downside seems to be my idle temps are a lot higher now than previously. At 1.2v the temp was about 24^c. Now it is 54^c.
