This is driving me up the wall.

Whilst playing whatever cyber addiction tickles my fancy at that point in time, something keeps connecting / disconnecting with the accompanying sound.

Is there any way I can see a log to see what's doing this? I've reseated all the plugs and whatnot but it's still continuing.

Any ideas?

Can you be a bit more specific, as to what you are doing at the time of the hardware disconnecting.
Does the PC shut down?
Do you just lose internet connection?

Nope, everything works fine, that's the odd part. I've got a Vengeance K60, M60, an ASUS monitor, and it all works perfectly fine at all times. I'm always gaming on this system so it's either WoW or BF4 at the moment.

I might start unplugging stuff and see if it helps.

So, you hear a noise that sounds like a hardware component being disconnected, yet nothing seems to go off, as your system seems unaffected. Are you sure it is not your hdd going into sleep/standby mode? All my storage drives turn off after 10 minutes of idleness.
