Hiyahhh! :D

I dont really post much... and thus really dont know anyone yet... but im starting to get used to the common names and sigs lol! I am trying to rectify this... my dream is to become an active known user :P hehe!!

Basically... i was just wanting to talk and get some advice off you friendly forum folk :D

I am in a situation... everyone has it sometime i guess... but mines is now!

Im 24, and after completing 2 years of computing to get my hnd i am no longer interested... was meant to start uni in sept, but didnt last minute... i know its not for me! I do like computing, hobby wise... and do find it easy, but i dont think i feel its me job wise...!

My only serious idea at the moment is actually nursing... :\ I have always liked this idea, and when i started computing it was basically a toss up between the 2 things! lol There are many reasons this fits... i love the idea of mental health, sounds sooo interesting :D My debts of the moment would be gone by the time the course is done, eveyone says id suit it... :)

Meh... i acually dont really know what im asking here... just talking and thinking out loud... looking for comments really!

Would the better idea be to just grin and bare computing...? Or should i try this whole new direction!?

Oh also considered driving instruction... but thats looking complicated and very expensive from the get go... :(

Thanks for randomly listening! :)

Craig!!

How long do you need to train for to become a nurse?

Can you not see any jobs you'd like with your HND? Give one a go, you never know you might enjoy it / have opportunities to progress higher. They might even let you do your HNC on the job? (It is a HNC after a HND right?)

To b honest I doubt the doors to nursing would be open for a couple years until you had the relevant qualifications.

i dont get the claimed thing?! I only encountered it tonight for the 1st time... what does it mean!? lol

Well i dunno what i want to do... i feel the nursing thing is the most solid idea... but i dont know if computing is a safe bet... **** lol nothings easy!

It's a bit silly, when a new user joins he is claimed by an existing user....

Even though you're not new you said you hadn't posted in a while and wanted to become a regular, so I claimed you :D

bit silly...........very pathetic.......soz OP! :D

Its 3 years at college or uni to get the qualification :)

Nahh its HNC then HND... 1st year college was hnc, then my 2nd year was hnd... next was to a 3rd year uni course... but i didnt go!

I dunno... computers are kinda buggin me now! kinda thought for a while it was what i wanted to do, but i get annoyed enough constantly sorting mines and my mates never mind doing it full time in work too!

Difference being though that you'll be getting paid :) Might take the sting off it. How old are you btw? If you feel you can start fresh on a new subject then go for it if you have the time / cash / support from family. I know I'd probably get a kick up the arse if I thought about dropping from my degree.

im 24... a bit late i feel... but with my debts and all that the course ties in nicely to them being paid off... i think lol

i should have the support... money should be ok, nursing busary is pretty good, can work weekends or whenever too :) family would be fine, just happy id be doing something i guess!

Thats what I done except I came over here and then changed course as I pretty much finalised in my mind software engineering wasn't for me. Now i'm doing Business Studies, which is what my original other choice was before I done my HND. If your feeling this way then just do Nursing, the computing will just get worse!

Yeah i think im agreeing with you on that one... if im having second thought about computing now, there is no point in doing another year or 2 and still be feeling the same!

Think im gonna make the jump to nursing, got all my stuff to fill in to apply to the course :)

Yeah MikeHunt79, it sounds like an easy thing to do... but nursing is going to be vastly different to study than computing! I love the challenge tho... :) hehe!

Thnaks ppl!

Look into psychology and psychotherapy/counselling - depending on what you like about mental health, you might find these suit you more (they're certainly better paid)
