Hi, when I have been gaming, sometimes I get random lockups. The screen goes black and I can hear the sounds of the game for about 30 secs and then nothing. Ctrl alt del doesn't work either.

my system specs are:

Asrock AliveSata2-Glan Mobo
BFG 8800gts 320mb
OCZ stealth xtream 600w (quad 18a 12v rails)
amd athlon 4200x2 2.2ghz
500gb segate barracuda.
2gb ocz platinum v2 ddr2 800

any ideas as to why I am getting these lockups?

Thanks.

re-installed the graphics drivers and still getting the problem. Is there any particular way to uninstall graphics drivers?

Try running mem test to ensure your memory is ok, try prime 95 or Orthos to check if your pc is running stable.

Also check your temps!

I usually just reset my computer when my screen went black, but this time a let it run. I heard several clicks (prolly form the hdd) and after the third it reset. When it booted into widows it said that it was caused by the nvidia drivers. So i uninstalled them, booted in safe mode, ran driver cleaner pro, reset, boot into safe mode again and installed the new 175.16 drivers. Hope this works :)

I'll bet youre 8800GTS 320mb is over heating.

Download Rivatuner / Evga precision and speed up the fan to keep the temps under control.

i'll test my temps during games later. During idle it is at 50 (stock settings) does that sound normal?

That sounds about right, my GTX idles around the 60 - 70c mark.
Like you say test it whilst gameing and see what happens.
