random lockups while gaming.

As suggested above I ran Prime 95 with those exact settings and it passed with no errors.

I open Modern Warfare 2 and it bombs out after five minutes. DOH!

I have managed to buy a second hand ATI 5750 from a friend of a friend for £30 as he was going to put it on eBay.

I will be picking it up tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

Its got to be then the card then.
I cant believe that its the PSU!
"Be quiet" is a great PSU make, German.

everytime I had problems like this, it has been due to ram timings & overclocking. If yur OCing, try stepping down the system the bit to see if the problems ease, then increasing any OC until you get a stable gaming experience

Hi last night I fitted the ATI 5750 I brought to test the machine and it bluescreened again.

I then came across an overclocking article that said sometimes to stabilise a system add more northbridge voltage.

I added .4v to NB so it is now @ 1.14v and the bluesceens have gone away.

Is this normal as my machine is not overclocked except memory?

Will this do any damage to my machine?

I can only speak for myself. I run on Intelsat p55 1156 mobo Oc.
I needed to add a lot of northbride volts to get it going in SLI.
^^^so yes it is normal. But only if ur overclocking.

Well u got the problem sorted. Sometimes the mobos can underclock ^^^so don't worry.

Were u running an ati card before you put the 6850 in your machine because you said you last built windows 6 months ago.But if you were running an nvidia card that could cause trouble
