Random monitor flicker

Hello

I have a 22" monitor with refresh rate of 60hz (can't remember the model and I'm at work). Resolution is 1680 x 1050.
The monitor seems to have developed a slight flicker recently at random times. When I first start the machine it's fine, but sometimes after playing a game or after it being on for a while it does develop a definite flicker. I can't up the refresh rate as it's at its max. I'm pretty sure it's not my graphics card as it's only a year old.
I will admit that monitors aren't my speciality so not sure what the issue is.
Monitor is about 3/4 years old.

Thanks

Try either replace the monitor or videocard and see if the problem still exist. If you got a integrated videochip on your motherboard you can use that.

What's your full system specs? Have you got another monitor you can try? OR another PC to try the monitor on? Could try updating GPU drivers?

Hello

I do have another monitor I can try (dig it out the loft), I also have my old graphics card so I could try a few combos. No onboard graphics. I've got a spare pc that I'm in the process of selling. Need to reinstall an os though (weekend job).
Is there a usual culprit for flicker though? I always thought it was purely down to refresh rate?

System specs:
ACPU - MD 945 quad (C revision) overclocked to 3.6ghz. MB - ASUS M4A790XTD EVO
8GB Corsar Classic XMS 10666. Graphics - Asus 6850

Drivers for graphics card aren't fully up to date. Had some issues with newer ones in games so went back a few (11.4 rings a bell). Had no problems for months, only seems to be the last week or two that this has started.

OK, I'll try the other monitor. If that's the same at least I'll know it's my card.
I'll then update the drivers and see if that makes a difference.
I'm secretly hoping it's the monitor so it gives me an excuse to buy a new one :)

Thanks folks
