I've a Allied Telesis CentreCom FH716SW but I'm a little puzzeled
it says "dual speed hub" on front, on the site it calls it a switch, and on another it calls it switching hub and hub with switch module
anyone know if this is a hub or a switch?
also can anyone tell me what the hell the scsi ports on the back are for if its not managed?

Yeah.. In the legacy products page on the AT site though, it only lists that. I thought perhaps that the "SW" just meant "switch" and perhaps wasn't actually needed as part of the name (indeed, a google search for FS716SW returns only 3 results, whereas FS716 returns loads).

Years back I remember the terming switching hub being used for hubs that supported a mix of 10mb and 100mb (somthing hibs didn't usualy do back then).

Ports on the back are probably for stacking.

I hope you're only keeping this for historical/hysterical purposes and don't intend to use it.

deeper google shows it could be just a hub with a switch between the 10Mb and 100Mb segments :([/url]
It's basically what you just described, to support 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps clients on the same hub without dropping them all down to the lowest common denominator. As above, it's not really worth using for anything.

damn
was hoping it was a switch! been after a 16 port to replace all the 4-8 ports I've got
