Im on my laptop at the minute, my PC is randomly restarting. It comes up to Desktop screen and restarts every time, it was working perfectly last night. I booted on safe mode still same.

Specs; Athlon 2600+
geforce 4000 64mb
512 2100
80gb 7200
termeltake 480W

any ideas? thank you

Hmm heating problems? any BSOD's? error screens?
I dunno if its not heat, have you made sure all the components are properly seated? check to see if something has come slightly loose. I had the same with some new ram on an old build the computer would boot to windows and crash then restart. It was in but slightly out on one stick just like 1 pin not touching. Pushed that in and it would be stable.

Windows Corruption? re-Format

at the minute im doing that blue noob windows system check, after that i will check for loose ends. I really dont wanna format :(

have you turned of automatically restart? if not then turn it off so you will at least get to see a error message before it resets

right click on my computer->properties->advanced>start up and recovery uncheck "automatically restart"

that way you should at least get to see what error it gives you before and thats at least one possible step in determining what it is that has caused it.

ok done that. Looks like it stoped restarting, for now anyways. I have got a "serious error" message

Error Report:

...WER32bd.dir00\mini033006-01.dmp
...WER32bd.dir00\sysdata.xml

these are then files included in the file.Any idea what these are? Is there a "repair" feature in windows xp cd? :D

ok, i wanna test my memory, i downloaded memtest, wrote it to a cd!, do i just boot it up on cd? cause i did that, it ended with a:\ :s

thanks
