Hey all. I'm having a little trouble with my old build now that i would like some advice on. From last night really, started having Kernel-Power (Event 41 / Task 63) restarts and i've come up trumps in finding the source.

The rig is

OS : Win7 Ultimate x64
PSU : Colors-IT 480W PSU
Mobo : Gigabyte GA-P35
CPU : Q8300 (stock)
RAM : 3gb Hyper-X
GPU : Nvidia 9800gt.

Had the PC running for 10 days now with these 2 crashes occurring at 05:34 this morning and 23:52 tonight. This mornings crash happened as i was browsing the internet and this evenings crash happened when no-one was even using the computer (hadn't been used in 6 hours).

In terms of finding the cause, so far i have run the Memory Diagnostic Tool which didn't find anything, reset the BIOS and run Prime95 for 2 hours (in order to rule out overheating).

Any help would be much appreciated!

Quick update : I had a RD2 Pro PCI Bus Multifunction Analzyer hooked up for some reason (i thought it was d/c so i never bothered to check). I'm wondering if that would cause compatibility issues with Win7?

Put my PSU in from my gaming rig and seems to be working fine. Just before i switched out the PSU's, i had 2 crashes in quick succession. All signs point to PSU then?

I suggest you remove the name of that auction site from your post as it's against forum rules.

I get, Kernel-Power (Event 41) reeboot about once a week

You have a very poor psu, which i would instantly suspect of causing that error... So now my 3yo CM 850W is looking much more suspect to me.

Id get a decent psu anyway if i was you.

this at least...

Aye, i've had my Corsair 520W PSU in now for 12 hours with no restarts or faults. Will press ahead and bring in a new PSU.

On a side note, is that a classic symptom of a failing PSU?

New one on me
Mines only about once a week, still a pain ! Got a hx520w corsair in old pc, but its a push with my 2600k & gtx 570 OC.
Will wait till wifes in a good mood and get a new psu. ;)

Minor update to the issue. I decided to swap out my 9800GT for my 3870HD which seems to have introduced stability to my system. Could my beloved 9800GT be on it's way out as well?

On a side note, payday isnt for another 2 weeks so i thought i would see what i can find. A PSU is going to be ordered :).
