Random shut downs, just like a power cut

I am having random shutdowns just as if there is a power cut and the PC reboots straight back up.

Nothing in particular running, certainly not overheating. Ran a stress test on cpu and memtest on memory, all fine.

Motherboard Asus Crosshair V Formula Z

RAM 16 GIG 2x8 Corsair Vengeance blue

Two Nvidia GTX 770 Graphics card

CPU AMD FX -9590

Samsung SSD 840 evo 500 gig

Enermax 1500 watt psu.

I get critical event in event viewer.

Kernel Power 41 .

Any more info can be provided if need be, any help is much appreciated.

Sounds like CPU voltage - either not enough or not stable enough. Try the above, or up the cpu voltage a little, say 0.05v. Good luck.

Are you running your PC through a UPS? Is there anything significant like a fridge or boiler on the same circuit as your PC?

Is the system clocked?

If it is, as mentioned in a previous post, the CPU could require a bit more juice. Better still remove the clock for a few days and see if the system becomes stable. Then reintroduce the clock incrementally with higher voltages...

The other thing I would suggest is the pulling out and reseating all your cards and cables - - inside and out of the case. It's amazing how one loose connection can cripple a machine.

Cud it be down to any external HDs?? Causing issues, could they cause the powering off?? All connected via usb3 ports on the rear of the motherboard.

Remove them and see, I very much doubt it though they don't use that much power at all.

I would first try with 1 GPU and 1 stick of RAM.
When do these shutdowns occur? Randomly? When playing a game?

No, generally idle or the other day just playing some music through wmp.

The cpu is running at 4.7 MHz (factory overclocked) and the core voltage is between

1.404 and 1.452

Appreciate all the help guys

Save the overclock profile to the board if you can or write down the values and then reset the CMOS, this will remove the overclock. It can become unstable after some use and either needs more voltage or the overclock lowered. - This could be the source of your shutdowns.

It wouldn't be factory overclocked to 4.7Ghz, did OCUK overclock the rig? If so they might also have your overclock settings when you ordered.

Its the FX 9590. It may well need lowering?? My nephew does a bit of over clocking and he's running his cpu at 4.7 and his voltage is slightly lower. So maybe i need to drop it slightly?.

You need to eliminate the clock as a factor altogether.

As mentioned before - save the clocked settings within an 'overclock profile' within the BIOS. Once you have done that reset the BIOS to factory defaults - and ideally clear the BIOS - but resetting to factory defaults F10 and rebooting should be enough.

Then use and abuse the system for a few days and if the system is stable you will know for sure that the clock is flaky. Then reintroduce a lower clock or up the voltage - but I would contact the supplier and take advice if it's still under warranty.
