Hey all,
new to these boards, and I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to overclocking and doing anything to a computer that involves taking it apart.
I recently bought an Ultima OC HD 4870 X2 comp deal with intel core quad 2.4 and Qx 6950 3.00 duel core DDr2....xp home edition..and it has, er..2.75 GB of ram. (I don't know what else is relevant to my problem.)
It was fine for a month or so, but recently it has began just shutting down suddenly when I try to play any games. Usually after about an hour or so.
I opened the main unit up and used some compressed air to clean the dust off the fans as best I could (i did some searches online for tips) but this didn't seem to help. I made sure the room wasn't too hot and I even downloaded a program to monitor the temp of theb comp...it never seems to go over 40c...which from what I can gather is ok, and I checked this when it was running a game at full specs.
I'm at a loss. I updated the graphics drivers recently too. I've tried a few different games and it's the same with all of them.
I wonder if it could be a power issue as I had it plugged into a 4 point adapter along with the large monitor and a few other things...I'm going to test it being plugged straight into the wall....no idea if that helps as it has an internal power source and I just use a kettle lead.
Can anyone help me out here?
