I have set up 100+ wireless networks of all sorts of configurations and using all sorts of brands and this still has me baffled.
I installed (well, connected up) a BT Home Hub for a friend recently that worked for maybe a month or two and then it stopped accepting wireless connections. 169.254 addresses being assigned to their laptop, phone, ipad and my laptop. Plugging in via cable was fine. This happened maybe 3-4 times and different things fixed it each time, from changing channel number, to lowering the security, or some other sort of fiddling that I don't recall.
I eventually got a Draytek 2710 and installed it. Worked fine for 2-3 days, then the laptop wouldn't connect but the ipad/iphone did. A day later, they stopped connecting too - so I've been told, but haven't been there since to try it. At present it's not working and I'm out of ideas of what to try.
There are 3-4 wireless networks nearby (signal to them is very weak if at all). The channel on the Draytek is set to Auto - this is all I can think of changing. Is it down to interference? The signal strength is full, the router is very close to the wireless devices. Again, it connects fine via cable.
