Hay.
I have just started playing wolfenstein and the framerate is all over the place. I had a look on afterburner and it is dropping to next to noting and then shooting all the way back up. I have not had this problem before.
I am running a r9 290

any ideas?
many thanks

Try enable unified gpu usage monitoring and see if that fixes it. Make sure you're on the latest drivers too, 14.6.

wolfenstein runs on a crappy engine, have the same problemes and bugs as Rage, and it's problemes wont be solved in any patch, just gotta play the game as it is, and hope they change the engine next time

Wolfenstein: The New Order technical issues: the problems detailed, plus a few fixes : http://www.pcgamer.com/uk/2014/05/2...ssues-the-problems-detailed-plus-a-few-fixes/

maybe this link can help you out, good luck

Reece played it flawlessly on a 290X maxed out and never budged from 60fps vsynced so not sure that's the case.

have enabled unified gpu usage monitoring and the flucuation now seems to be between 1-5%. thanks for the help...i will spend a bit more time with the game later and see if there is any other noticeable difference

Just to check, do you have the power limit set to +20? Might be TDP throttling if not. Also disable ULPS (see LtMatts screenshot for that). If you are only seeing minor dips it might be worth checking your cpu usage just in case it is holding your gpu back.

Sounds like your gpu is not getting worked too hard lol.
