Haven't been able to download anything since this has came in.

It's terrible, I can't read them either. You are only supposed to write the letters which have the sitting cat picture in them.

He has a point. If people get fed up with this verification they can either stop using the site (unlikely), stop complaining, or pay for an account so they don't have to verify.

Why would I pay for something I only use every now and again?

It's put in place to to stop abuse of the system, not non premium users.

They offer a free service for a reason.

And just split it with a friend or 2 and all use it.

Couldn't do it earlier but luckily on my next attempt only 4 letters were shown so that made it a bit easier.

It's stupidly hard to read, so I just tend to stay away from using it.

Seems a little confusing, but if you take a few glances it's quite easy. The tail gives it away.

Yea, but come on if you just share the cost with 4/5 people for a 3 month sub it then comes to very little each and you don't have to wait an hour or however long it is between files.

They were probably introduced due to low profits in an effort to reduce bandwidth costs. I wouldn't want to pay and support a company like crapidshare either.
