At the mo i have 2x 74gb western digital raptors in raid0

I want to sell them and buy 2x Seagate Barracuda 250gb 7200.10's

would i see much of a performance decrease?? this is my current hd tach score

all im looking for is performance. Capacity doesnt bother me as i only use my raid setup for windows and games.

The linear read speed may well be quicker, but the seek times will be worse. Whether you'll see this as an advantage or disadvantage depends on the type of applications that you run.

Personally I'd move your existing disks off the JMicron controller and onto a pair of the Intel ports (assuming this is on the DS4 in your sig). The JMicron controller is far from the best out there and this is confirmed by the graph - it should slope from high at the left to low at the right. The fact that yours is flat suggests that the controller is bottlenecking the drives.

My Seagate 7200.10 250gb drive has around the same burst speed but average throughput is around 70 ( I think ) and access times are around 12ms.
